New Mobile Phone

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

I’ve been with Orange now for 9 years, and every year or so I like to upgrade my phone.  I do it, usually, just for the sake of it, rather than any real need to upgrade, but this year i had my eye on a particular phone and couldn’t wait until i was out of Contract, so I could get it for free.

The phone i opted for, in all it’s beautiful magnificence, is the LG Viewty.  How could i no fall in love with a mobile phone boasting a cracking five mega-pixel camera, with flash and high quality video feature?

As you”ll soon see, i opted for the Purple version, although given the choice i’d definitely have gone for black, but there weren’t any left at Orange and i didn’t want to wait any longer.  :D

Obscene Publications Act - Censorship

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Source: Blogger taken to court over fantasy story about Girls Aloud.

A civil servant is being prosecuted for the alleged publication of a blog with details of the kidnap, torture, mutilation and murder of pop band Girls Aloud.

Darryn Walker is accused of writing the obscene article and posting it on a fantasy porn website.

The blog, called ‘Girls (Scream) Aloud’ is said to be 12 pages long and described the killing of the band members.

I should point out, this story was written for and published on, a website for erotic fiction, and there doesn’t seem to be any accusation that the problem lies in taking the story seriously, or averting a real crime.  In fact, from what i’ve read about the story, elsewhere, whether the story is about real people, celebrity or otherwise, isn’t even a factor in such a case.  Read More »

I’ll never use Epson printers again. Ever.

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

For the last 10 or so years, i’ve consistently used Epson printers, finding them both reliable and of a high quality.  Best of all, i’ve been able to buy compatible inks, thus saving myself a bit of money in the process.

However, i had the great misfortune of buying an Epson R265.  Epson decided to quash the compatible market with this printer, by making it really difficult for manufacturers of cheap inks.  The plan was to add the known chip codes of compatible cartridges to the printer itself, thus not accepting said discs and leaving the owner of the printer to pay for full Epson cartridges. Bebo wants to contact aliens!

bebo

People interested in sending a message into space are being given the chance by social networking site Bebo. People can send in their messages, with the 500 best being decided by a web vote which runs until September 30.

Am i the only person to read this story and think, ‘dear god no! Don’t put out such a bad representation of the human race! Not bebo!!!!’.

At the best of times, i don’t have such a high opinion of our feeble little race and although there aren’t really any comparisons to make, us not having actually encountered alien life forms yet, i’m pretty sure that we wouldn’t rate up there as ‘people we must lunch with’, on any self-respecting aliens event calender.
