Life Experience (How The Hell Did That Happen?)

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

As i’ve started to write again, and think about things that are going on around me, as well as looking for subjects and personal experiences to write about, i’ve realised something that was quite unexpected.

The one big motto of most writers seems to be, universally, “Write about the things you know.”  Obviously the more interesting, unique and/or experience filled lives that people lead, the more they have to write about.

  • The assumption

I never really see myself as grown up, or experienced or having led a fulfilling life.  Part of the reason for that is because of my ex, who certainly liked to portray an image of me that was immature, wasn’t experienced enough in life to understand some of how it worked (A nice little psychological trick to justify wrongs and make it sound like the normal way of life).  Read More »

The mindfuck that is Quantum Physics

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Prompted by the upcoming LHC (Large Hadron Collider) project, which kicks off tomorrow in Switzerland, i went through my yearly (circa) pilgrimage to the world of Physics and Quantum Physics, which often leads me to the knowledge that i’m just not smart enough to understand it.  Read More »

The Rationality of Disbelief

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Stacey asked me an interesting question in a comment for another post and i thought the best way to answer it would be via a post, where i can cover the subject more widely and thus give a more complete answer.

  • The Question

..You never really said in this blog post, but do you have a rational grounds for rejecting Christianity? We could start with that. ..

The Pick n’ Mix nature of Beliefs

  • The Walk

I’m not long back from my second walk of the day, which as always meant my walking around my faithful route, MP3 player on, volume up to MAX and heartrate picking up with each step.

About two thirds of the way through the walk, i make my way through a wooded area, lots of trees, grass and a path that leads through to the estate i live in.

Pretty much every day, twice a day now, while doing this walk, i see Magpies.  And, every day, without fail, i go through my Magpie routine; if i see one, i look around for more, if there’s none to be found, i ignore the first one.  If i see more than one, i quote the verse, relevant to the number i’ve seen. Do I Believe? - UFOs, Aliens and Chariots of the Gods

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Another of my childhood interests which even stuck with me through my Christian years, always giving me cause for curiosity and wonder. I have somewhat lost my interest and curiosity over recent years, guess i had to get rid of a few things to make room for everything else that was going on inside of me.

  • The Concepts

There’s quite a few ideas and theories behind the whole phenomenon of UFOs and Aliens, some more plausible than others. Read More »

Do I Believe? - God and all of his/her/it’s guises

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Warning, this is a long post!

The first one didn’t go too bad, and pushed on by my own sense of greatness (or lack thereof), i’ve decided to be brave and tackle the big one, God.

  • A little background

As you’ve probably garnered, either by reading my previous posts, or by knowing me, i was a born again Christian for over 5 years of my life. Between the ages of 18 and 23 and a bit. My faith was always strong within that time, until towards the very end of the run, where it withered and died as i struggled to keep one aspect (lust) of my life under wraps. Read More »

Do I Believe? - Ghosts

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

I thought i’d start off with something that i’ve been interested in since i was a child. It’s also quite an interesting topic, and should avoid the wrath of my boredom or dis-interest. :D

I’m not going to cover absolutely every possibility, as it would take a lot of work and time, which i don’t really have in me. But i’ll cover the most likely ones, in my opinion anyway.

  • Fear

If there’s something strange, in your neighbourhood, who’s you gonna call? Well, it better not be me, because although i’m open minded (sort of) on the subject, and quite willing to believe there’s more to it, i don’t really want to have it proven to me, as the idea in general creeps me out. Bebo wants to contact aliens!

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

bebo

People interested in sending a message into space are being given the chance by social networking site Bebo. People can send in their messages, with the 500 best being decided by a web vote which runs until September 30.

Am i the only person to read this story and think, ‘dear god no! Don’t put out such a bad representation of the human race! Not bebo!!!!’.

At the best of times, i don’t have such a high opinion of our feeble little race and although there aren’t really any comparisons to make, us not having actually encountered alien life forms yet, i’m pretty sure that we wouldn’t rate up there as ‘people we must lunch with’, on any self-respecting aliens event calender.
